"Ignis aurum probat" - Fire tests gold ✨
This book drew me in right from the first page. It is equally funny and sad while it highlights the importance of kindness towards other people.

The book follows the life of Eleanor Oliphant, who works as a finance clerk five days a week and then spends her weekends alone with pizza and vodka which she picks up from Tesco Metro on the way home from work on Fridays.
Eleanor lives a simple life and she follows the same routine week after week; wearing the same clothes to work everyday, taking the same bus everyday, eating the same dinner every evening and having routine phone calls with her Mummy once a week on a Wednesday. Eleanor does not really socialize with anyone else, as she does not see the need to - she has no emotional needs. She is completely fine on her own.
As Eleanor's story progresses you learn about her past and what lead her to her current circumstances. You learn why she is so "different" and as you continue turning the pages, you witness her strong character development. You learn about the importance of friendship and what a big difference kindness can make in the lives of others. There are both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments; and through all if this, you start to love (and relate to) Eleanor and some of the other characters she crosses paths with.
This is a story that teaches us about loneliness, kindness, friendship and hope. It will help you to see people who are "different" from you in a new light and will hopefully encourage you to always be kind to everyone you come across, as anyone could be fighting battles you know nothing about. 💛
