5/5āļø

This was the first novel by Alice Oseman that I read & let’s just say: I have found a new favourite author to add to the list!

"I didn't want to think about love anymore."

Loveless follows Georgia, a self-taught expert of love & romance thanks to her love of fanfics & Disney movies. When it comes to reality, however, Georgia has never been in love or kissed anyone. I loved following her journey of self discovery & acceptance 🌻

Georgia & her friends, Pip & Jason, start attending Durham University together. There, Georgia meets Rooney, her new roommate. The four of them become friends through a mutual interest in theatre.

I loved these characters so much! They all saved each other in their own way & they all went through difficult times but got out the other side stronger together. Another character I truly loved is Sunil for being so caring & patient and doing so much for others.

"I didn't feel sure about anything, & I felt so weird all the time, to the point that I hated myself, being a kid who knew all about sexuality from the internet but couldn't even vaguely work out what I was, couldn't even come up with a ballpark estimate, when everyone else seemed to find it so easy."

This book is so well written! It’s such an enjoyable read, it’s funny & witty, the characters are relatable, realistic & at the same time this book is SO educational! I’ve learned so much regarding asexuality & aromanticism. I truly think this is a book everyone should read, not only because it’s a great book with amazing characters, but also to learn more about asexuality & aromanticism, seeing as it is quite underrepresented in books & films, leading to a lot of misunderstandings & misassumptions.

"And the worst part of it was - even though I'd longed for these things, I knew that they'd never make me happy anyway. The idea was beautiful. But the reality made me sick.ā€

Loveless also truly highlights the importance of love in all its different forms – romantic love should not be the only or most important form of love. We need to appreciate & value the love between friends, family etc. as well.

Now to read more of Alice’s books!šŸ’•
