Genre: YA Fantasy

"A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who had become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse."

I've never been someone to reread books as my never ending tbr doesn't allow it, but I've been wanting to reread this duology ever since I read it the first time, so when @wanderring.pages._ said she wanted to read it soon, I knew it was the perfect opportunity.

"There was no part of him that was not broken, that had not healed wrong, and there was no part of him that was not stronger for having been broken."

I LOVED SoC the first time around & I literally didn't think it could get any better, but wow! It was even better the second time around. There are so many details I missed the first time & I've watched the TV series since then, so this felt like a whole new experience and I'm newly obsessed & in awe.

"It had started with a storm, and in a way, that storm had never ended. She had blown into his life with the wind and rain and set his world spinning. He'd been off balance ever since."

I love EVERYTHING about this book - the characters, plot & world building. Ketterdam is one of my all time favourite fictional worlds. Leigh is amazing with world building & I could literally envision the streets, canals & alleys of Ketterdam, the icy cold Fjerda & the dark and scary Hellgate.

It is really hard not to get attached to the characters - the crows are such a diverse group & each character has a way of crawling into your heart. They had me going through all the emotions! They are all so different, but have to fight alongside each other, protect each other & learn to trust one another with their lives.

"She'd laughed, and if he could have bottled the sound and got drunk on it every night, he would have."

I highly recommend this one. Once you get into this book, it becomes really difficult to put down & keeps you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think everything is smooth sailing for the crows, something goes wrong. Just when you think it's over for them, one of them plot & scheme their way out of it. If you've already read it; go read it again!❤️🤗
